EMPLOYERS

Say hello to your new wave of smart, driven, well-educated employees.

Indiana is entering a new era – one where employers unite with a shared voice to shape workforce priorities and take the lead in educating and training new talent.

Working together, we can strengthen Indiana’s position as a national business leader.

The Indiana Career Apprenticeship Pathway (INCAP) offers a high-quality, well-organized structure to develop your talent pipeline and fill your current and future workforce needs.

Throughout the process, you’ll have support from your Industry Talent Association, which brings employers across your industry together to speak with one voice, choose occupations best suited for INCAP, identify required knowledge and skills, and create education and training materials. You will also receive ongoing support from the ITA in the form of recruitment assistance and supervisor training.

HOW IT WORKS

As an employer-led initiative, INCAP puts you at the center of the process.

After all, you’re most knowledgeable about the job demands of your industry, now and in the future.

Frequently Asked Questions

How can I start an INCAP Apprenticeship Program at my business?

If your organization is in one of the six industries currently participating in INCAP, your first step is to contact your Industry Talent Association. If your organization is not yet represented, and you want to learn how you can bring INCAP to your industry, contact CEMETS iLab Indiana, the coalition responsible for building INCAP.

Does my business need to pay apprentices?

Yes, organizations are required to pay their INCAP apprentices a training wage. The pay rate is determined by industry and is tailored to each occupation.

How do I access the education and training materials and curriculum?

Each Industry Talent Association works with their industry’s employers to create education and training materials and will provide those to organizations participating in INCAP.

Does my organization need to pay a fee to participate?

Organizations participating in INCAP help fund their Industry Talent Association. For more specific information on costs, contact your ITA.

How often and how long are apprentices on site?

The INCAP Apprenticeship Program is year-round, and INCAP apprentices are on-site all day for at least three days a week, based on their occupation and what year of the program they’re in. The rest of their time is spent at school in alignment with a typical high school academic calendar. Typically, students in the second year of an apprenticeship program (and third year, if applicable) spend four days a week working on-site and one day a week in the classroom.

How do I recruit an apprentice?

Once you have decided to hire INCAP apprentices, you will inform your Industry Talent Association. Your ITA will share the information with a regionally-located INCAP Connector who works with schools and high school students.
